- "Pastor Nam Soo Choi's prayer mission has awakened America"

▲ Interview: Rev. Douglas Small (President of the American Prayer Meeting), Rev. In Bon Ku (President/Publisher of The Hapdong Korea Herald), from left.

▲ Pastor Nam Soo Choi of Kwangmyung Church led a 410-member Kwangmyung Church prayer mission team to the United States for two trips in 2022 and 2023. This ministry is held annually. What were your feelings and thoughts when you heard about the Kwangmyung Church Prayer Mission Team coming to the United States?

▲ Pastor Aaron Park, Pastor Douglas Small, Pastor Nam Soo Choi, and Pastor In Bon Ku (from left to right)

= The idea of a prayer mission team from Kwangmyung Church in South Korea coming to the United States to pray for and bless America was unheard of. It gives us hope. And the fact that they came on the jubilee of the 49th anniversary of the exact date of the Billy Graham rally seven times seven years ago seemed like a special sign. No one knew about it, no one planned it, and when the Billy Graham people heard about it, they wanted to be a part of it because it was obvious that it was a favor done without anything in return (bread on the water).

In a sense, it was like the descendants of the 70,000 people who were saved in that Billy Graham rally were coming back, and so we felt that there was something bigger than the usual here. We felt that God wanted to touch both Korea and America in a special way, and so I was overwhelmed by this, and people were telling us last year and this year that the Korean team was coming to cry out in tears for us, and they were saying it was unbelievable that God would do this for us, and so the gift that Korea is giving to America right now is just unbelievable, and then after that first year came the Asbury Revival.

▲ What are the changes that have occurred in the U.S. since Pastor Nam Soo Choi's prayer rally and what are the prospects for the future?

= There was a prophetic word that something would be planted seven months after Pastor Nam Soo Choi's prayer team came. That's when the Asbury revival happened, and then another revival across the country. We're not fully awakened, but the sparks of revival are happening, and they've been happening since the Koreans first came, and we believe that at some point this will erupt into a full spiritual awakening in this country. And it was the Koreans, by the grace of God, who caused it.

▲ What role and ministry do you want the Korean church to play in the American church?

= We want to make a plea to South Korea, a country known around the world for its prayer. When everyone thinks of the Korean church, they think of a praying church. The church that prays all over the world is the Korean church, so we ask you to pray for us. We are in trouble. We know that God is in charge, but most of the world is going down an unrighteous and unholy path, as much as America is polluting the world with drugs and evil movies and so on. And there is still a strong evil remnant in America.

▲ What do you think are the international relations implications of America's spiritual awakening and evangelization?

= If America is destroyed, who will defend Korea, who will defend Israel? Who will stand against Russia or China or any other country? So we need God to send a mighty revival to America, not only for America, but for the whole world. There are 521 languages spoken in America. There are 100 million first and second generation immigrants, and 2.7 million Koreans. There are 21 million unreached people groups in America, people who have never heard the gospel, and they are living in America, passing under our roofs and under the steeples of our buildings.

If there is a revival in America, there will be a spiritual explosion around the world like we've never seen before, and that's why it's so important to pray for America. We don't deserve it. We don't deserve it, but America is the most strategic country in the world right now, and I hope that we can open our eyes to the possibility of seeing a global spiritual awakening.

◆ Editor's Note = After graduating from Chongshin University and Chongshin Theological Seminary, Pastor Nam Soo Choi was preparing to study abroad when he received a call from God to plant a church, and he and his wife, Myeongae Kim, planted Kwangmyeong Church, which has grown into a large church and is currently experiencing revival. Recently, they are preparing to build a children's church and a world prayer mission center in Yangju, Gyeonggi-do to support the next generation and efficient prayer mission. In particular, Pastor Nam Soo Choi has been focusing on national evangelization and evangelizing the nations of the world through his ministry with lots of pray since the beginning.

In 2009, Pastor Choi founded World Prayer Mision, which focuses on prayer missions with the World Prayer School. He also founded B.F.World, a non-governmental, non-profit international NGO organization registered with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Korea, to carry out various overseas projects such as education support, child protection, healthcare, community development, emergency relief, and overseas service, focusing on areas where ethnic minorities who are marginalized by the government are concentrated, as well as domestic projects to fulfill community responsibilities.
